Our Trees, Here at the nursery in north Florida, our trees have grown to twenty feet in three years or so, berries are four to seven inches in length and the sweetest of all, with about a thousand per tree. Unfortunately berries ripen in late March when all the birds are passing through so, for us ripe berries must be collected at sunrise or not at all.
Mulberry harvests only last about three weeks, trees produce far too many sweet berries for one person to eat (sometimes two thousand or more), you may want to invite friends and family to join in.
All the Mulberry trees we offer are propagated from healthy, vigorous, fruit producing mother tree, grown right here in our nursery. This means, you receive an clone, true in form and flavor, as is often not the case with some tissue culture plants. Truly a better tree!
The growth rate and yield of East Coast Foot Long will vary greatly depending on soil type, sunlight, temperature and other factors. A few leaves are often trimmed prior to shipping to reduce transpiration and travel stress.
When you receive your new Mulberry, there is no need to worry about planting right away. Your new plant can be stored for a while by simply placing it in a bucket with about a half inch of water and moving it to a shady location, simply keep moist. This will give you plenty of time to select the ideal location for your new Mulberry.
