Beautiful Purple Orchid Tree (bauhinia purpurea)

Glowing purple flowers envelope the Butterfly Tree during mid to late fall in a vivid display of color, sure to excite any gardener. Clustering, 3 to 5-inch flowers are delightfully fragrant and have heavily veined petals resembling a butterfly’s wings. Cool looking, flat 12-inch-long slender, brown seed pods form after the flowers and hang tight to the branches into the winter. Super cute heart shaped leaves adorn the plant most of the season in a medium green matte coloration. It’s a great smaller stature tree for focal point planting in the garden or you can grow it in a container on a patio for that extra visual pop in the fall.
